We think that this fabulous petticoat pattern would be splendid worn underneath a wedding dress or skirt

As always with Truly Victorian patterns full detailed instructions are included with historical detail. They represent great value as all sizes are included.

They say

"This petticoat is drafted based on an actual garment as seen a Harper's Bazaar magazine. It is designed to give support behind the knees for tied-back or Natural Form style skirts of 1877-1882. The very slim petticoat is lightly gathered in front and sides, with gathered rows of netting holding out the full back. The closure is in the center front seam. An optional 12" ruffle can be added to the hem. The detachable short train buttons onto the hem of the petticoat.

This petticoat is also great for wear under 1890-91 skirt that need slimness in front and fullness behind. "

Thanks to Jane for passing on this brilliant top tip!

"We all know that working with net is not the easiest of things to do, and trying to cut it straight is nigh on impossible.

This pattern requires 11 strips of net, each 8.5 inches x the full width.

A piece of A4 paper is approx 8.25 inches wide. I taped 3 sheets together, so I had a strip of paper 8.25 inches wide which I put between the 2 layers of net, secured it with pins, then cut just away from the edge.

And Hey Presto I have 11 strips of net, all of which are the size I wanted. It didn't take too long either."
