POWDER COATING FAQ
Q: Will the coating chip?
A: There is currently no way to coat metal (especially stainless steel) that will not chip or wear under the right circumstances. However powder coating is extremely hardwearing and will resist chipping if it is handled correctly.
Q: What are these marks and will they affect the coating?
A: Some marks are caused by the wire used to hang the busk. Sometimes, either due to the busk being slightly off centre or a slight relaxation of the hook during curing, the powder on the busk comes into contact with the powder on the hooks. When the busk is cured (heated in the oven) the powder flows over both and so the hook must be separated from the busk manually. This mark will not affect the performance of the powder coating and will not be visible when the busk is in use. If you are concerned about any rough edges then a nail file can be used to smooth out the mark.
Q: Why are there holes in the ends of the busk
A: These holes allow the busk to be hung during the coating and curing process. They also keep any marks (that can be caused by the hanging wire) on the part of the busk that will not be seen during its normal use.
